Staten Island Restylane Injections and Dermal Fillers New York

What is Restylane®?

Restylane® is the first and only FDA-approved dermal filler made of a biodegradable non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA™). Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance already present in your body. As you age, your skin begins to lose hyaluronic acid and unwanted wrinkles begin to show. Hyaluronic acid is what provides fullness and elasticity to your skin, keeping it youthful and full.

What does Restylane® treat?

Most patients receive Restylane® treatments to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds between the brows as well as the lines between the nose and mouth. Restylane® can also be used as a lip enhancer.

How does Restylane® work?

The gel integrates into the dermal tissue, then attracts and binds to water molecules to help maintain volume and give your skin a more youthful and rejuvenated look. As the gel is injected into your skin, it will add volume and smooth out unwanted wrinkles.

What can I expect during the Restylane® procedure?

During the procedure, David Hoffman, D.D.S. and Mark Stein, D.D.S., M.D. at Staten Island Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will carefully select the injection points based on your specific needs. Restylane® treatments take around 30 minutes to complete.

What can I expect after receiving a Restylane® treatment?

Some patients experience slight redness, swelling, tenderness, or an itching sensation in the treated area immediately after the procedure. This discomfort is temporary and will last only a few days. Patients who receive treatment in their lips may notice that their lips become swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a few days and on occasion, somewhat longer. Ice packs and Advil can be used to minimize any discomfort. While each patient is different, Restylane® results typically last for up to six months. Repeat treatments are recommended every six to twelve months to maintain the optimal results.
